These Chiefs Ships Lanterns are beautiful working handcrafted reproductions in heavy brass cast hardware with replaceable wicks. Originally designed in the 19th century for the Chief mate to find his way throughout the dark deck of the sailing ship during evening hour topside inspections, although it still can be used out on the open sea, they are fantastic for emergency storm lighting, they do everything the hurricane oil lanterns do and more.

These chiefs lanterns stand 10" tall without the handle and are 5.5" wide. The oil burning pot and wick unit are serviced from the opened hinged door on the front of the lanterns and can be converted into electric fixtures with great ease. There is room inside for a full size 60w light bulb after conversion. Some the applications that our boat oil lanterns have been used for include, wall oil lamps, outdoor oil lamps, ships wheel chandeliers, exterior lighting on property, ceiling fixtures, and also make a perfect patio/deck oil burning lamp. You can also choose to mount on your wall with one of our brass wall hangers. The lamp is very sturdy. Great for your Home, Patio, Boat, Bar, or Office!
